Paul Singh was appointed as a full-time member of the Tribunal on April 16, 2018 for a four-year term and was appointed as acting Chair of the Tribunal on February 1, 2021 for a six-month term. He holds degrees from the University of British Columbia (B.Sc (1997), LL.B (2000)) and from the Schulich Business School at York University (MBA (2002)), and was called to the bars of Ontario and British Columbia in 2004. He completed his mediation training at Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation in 2019.
Prior to joining the Tribunal, Mr. Singh was a senior federal Crown counsel with the Department of Justice Canada. From 2004 to 2010, he was a civil litigator in private practice in British Columbia where he maintained a broad litigation practice in fields including commercial, insurance and employment law. From 2010 to 2018, Mr. Singh was with the Department of Justice Canada where he practised civil litigation, administrative law, constitutional law, and human rights law.
In April 2021, Mr. Singh was appointed as a part-time member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal for a five-year term.
